Karla Stephen, M.D.
Karla Stephen, M.D. grew up in Pikeville, Kentucky and moved to Lexington in 2001. She completed a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from Pikeville College before entering medical school at the University of Kentucky. She completed her training as an Accelerated Resident in Family Medicine at the University of Kentucky in June, 2007.
Dr. Stephen was awarded “Most Outstanding Second Year Resident” in 2006 and “Resident Teacher of the Year” in 2007. As a mother of two, she understands the issues today’s families face. Dr. Stephen’s passion is caring for her patients and building relationships with entire families!
In addition to being the sole physician at Center for Anti-Aging, Dr. Stephen has continued her association with the University of Kentucky. She has maintained a position in the UK Department of Family and Community Medicine as faculty from 2007 until the present. She continues to participate in the education of medical students and residents from UK as well as Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her educational involvement is both at the University of KY and as a community preceptor.
Dr. Stephen also has experience as the Medical Director for a Rural Health Clinic (Family Healthcare Associates), in Barbourville, KY. Her professional career has also included employment as a hospitalist and she maintains privileges at several hospitals in central KY, including UK Good Samaritan, Bluegrass Community Hospital, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, and Haggin B Memorial Hospital.
In addition to primary care, Dr. Stephen’s special interests include weight loss management and cosmetic procedures including Botox and Restylane. During the recent economic decline, Dr. Stephen even designed a Personal Healthcare Program to ensure accessibility and quality healthcare for her patients who face economic hardship.
Emily Little is the Exercise Counselor at Center for Anti-Aging. She graduated from the University of Kentucky in December 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology- Exercise Science. She is originally from Versailles, KY and has lived in Lexington since 2009. During her undergraduate studies, she worked for Bluegrass Community Hospital, and also conducted research with the University of Kentucky Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion.
She has a passion for exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and loves helping patients lose weight through Center for Anti-Aging’s Fit4Life weight loss program.
Emily is a certified Obagi skin care professional, and is certified to do i-Lipo Ultra + Laser procedures.
Merritt Spencer is a Certified Medical Assistant at Center for Anti-Aging. She is from Winchester, KY, and attended The Medical Institute of Kentucky and graduated in March of 2011 with a CCMA degree. Merritt has been working with patients at Center for Anti-Aging since March of 2011.
She has always had a passion for cosmetic procedures, and loves helping patients look and feel their best with all the services that Center for Anti-Aging has to offer.
