5 things you need to know about Dysport

Dysport is one of the most rewarding and least invasive treatments we offer! I LOVE DYSPORT! The treatment involves injecting a very small amount of Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) into an area where you want to weaken muscle contraction. This process allows subtle contraction of muscles without the strength of the contraction that causes lines and wrinkles. I like to describe the effect as softening your expressions, not taking them away.

Some common questions are:

  1. Will this make me look fake or plastic? No. The effect of weakening the muscles that cause lines and wrinkles is very dependent on the dose and pattern Dysport is injected. Different providers have different styles. I love the natural look that still leaves room to make expression, but softens the harsh lines left by muscles contracting.

  2. How long will it last? Dysport lasts 3-4 months

  3. When will I see results? It usually takes 10-14 days to see the full effect of the injection. A 2 week follow up appointment is recommended to assess the response to the treatment. The lines and wrinkles will continue to fade and improve for 3-4 months after the treatment.

  4. What areas can you treat with Dysport? Dysport is FDA approved for use in the procerus and corrugator muscles (these muscles create the frown lines between the brows). Other muscles in the face are commonly treated with Dysport. You can schedule a consultation with me to find out more.

  5. How much is Dysport? The treatment with Dysport is affordable. It is based on how many units are needed to achieve the desired weakening of the muscle. Generally the frown lines can be effectively treated for about $200.
